Pakistan, World Liberty Financial Sign MoU to Promote Digital Payments Innovation

Pakistan has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with US-based World Liberty Financial to promote innovation in digital payments and modernize the country’s financial ecosystem.
The signing ceremony was attended by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar, Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb, Chairman of the Pakistan Virtual Assets Regulatory Authority, and other senior officials.
Separately, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also met a delegation from World Liberty Financial USA, led by Chief Executive Officer Zachary Witkoff.
During the meeting, the prime minister briefed the delegation on Pakistan’s Digital Pakistan Vision, emphasizing that digital connectivity, transparency, and public access to financial services remain top government priorities.

He noted that digital payments and financial innovation are key pillars of a modern digital economy and that Pakistan is steadily advancing in this direction.
The prime minister welcomed the growing global interest in Pakistan’s digital financial markets, stating that the country is becoming an active participant in the global digital finance ecosystem.
CEO Zachary Witkoff expressed keen interest in working with Pakistan to develop a secure and transparent digital payments infrastructure, including innovations in cross-border settlements and foreign exchange inflows and outflows.
